First time on Greyhound Bus?

I am afraid of my things getting misplaced and stuff so i would like to know if I can bring my duffel bag aboard the bus with me. A friend of mine who rode on across a couple of states told me that he was able to take his on the bus with him. So i am wondering if that is allowed. I will be bringing my laptop and some carry-ons in a book bag as well as a duffel bag Does anyone know if I can bring it all on the bus with me.
