DE Filter is constantly needing to be Bumped and Regenerated What is the problem?

I opened the pool(24'x48"high AG) up this morning and all I have been doing all day is bumping..like every 20 minutes and backwashing like every 4 hours and regenerating and the cycle starts all over. Even when the water was clear I had this problem. The filter pressure just becomes to high to fast. I Soaked the fingers and cleaned them real good they are white anyhow. I did everything the manufactuer said to do...20 times over. I am on my second bag of DE in just 12 hours. I am starting to think that this filter may be to small for this pool. It is a Hayward E50AC Perflex filter. DE filters suck..or should I say don't suck. This is swimming pool water. I am not going to be dunking my water bottle in it on the way to work. The stuff this thing is designed to filter I don't think can be seen with the human eye. But any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
