Is there strange luck to being the typically unappealing "nice guy"?

if you are a "nice guy", then girls don't generally find you alpha enough to have feelings for you, yet the fact that you know they don't want you just makes you less likely to like them, thus making it non-important. I've always been aware that my shyness was unappealing, and it made me almost incapable of even having crushes on people growing up, and into adulthood. it's very difficult to like people who don't like you.
